August 22, 2008 - 3rd Installation of Officers
Article By: Alma Therese Mendalla
The Club held its 3rd Installation of Officers last August 22, 2008 at Par 7 of Baguio Country Club, with the theme, “Hope for Women Who Help Themselves First”.

In keeping with the Club’s usual character, the program was a short & informal event. Nonetheless, it was an altogether important and meaningful occasion, graced by District Director Josefina Francisco, who was the Guest Speaker and Inducting Officer as well.

The new officers were inducted into office in a beautiful candlelight ceremony befitting a gathering of outstanding women, who are also recognized leaders in their respective fields & professions.

With the able & entertaining hosting skills of emcees Midge De Leon & Sheree Nolasco, the evening turned out to be a successful, fun & fulfilling celebration.

Indeed, the S.I. Hope Baguio can surely look forward to another rewarding & award winning biennial!

September 12, 2008 - “Ang Lihim Ni Lea”, A Secret No More
Article By: Procyon Casareo, SI Hope Baguio
Saving women and girls through books is a strategy that the SI of Hope Baguio embarked on in the production of the children’s book, “Ang Lihim Ni Lea”. Launched last December 2007 with IPP Tes Choa as keynote speaker and Sonia Roco as guest speaker, this project is designed to zero in on the prevention of child sexual abuse.

Last September 12, 2008, less than a year after its launch, the SI of Hope Baguio was awarded as finalist for the Gintong Aklat Awards, children’s book category. The Gintong Aklat Awards was established in 1981 and is given out regularly to outstanding book publishers every two years. Charter President Rebecca Domogan, Project Chairperson and President-Elect Procyon Casareo and the author Augie Rivera received the prestigious award at the SMX Convention Center in Manila. The book was judged for all-around excellence and was subjected to close scrutiny by professional panels in book manufacture, content, design, writing and editing.

“Ang Lihim Ni Lea” is available for sale at several local stores around Baguio City and at the Adarna Books Distribution Centers. The club encourages consignors to distribute this book so as to make Lea’s Secret, a secret no more.

It is to be noted that in buying “Ang Lihim Ni Lea”, you help sustain the Hub of Hope, a free daycare and breast milk bank, an on-going project of the SI of Hope Baguio.
